Important: Future of wikiADAPT

Responding to user feedback and needs, we have recently completed a total redesign of the weADAPT web presence. As part of this redesign we have decided to integrate wikiADAPT into the new weADAPT site. All of the articles have been transferred, and there is now a much simpler way to edit and create pages (rich text, so there is no need for any wiki coding). The transfer links wikiADAPT much better with our Google Earth applications and other tools, and allows users and organisations to create personalised spaces and profiles within the new site, where information you are interested in will be brought to you.

In effect, we have kept the essence of wikiADAPT, but made it much easier to find relevant information, use weADAPT tools and connect with other users. The current site: wikiADAPT will remain for the moment, but new developments will take place on the weADAPT site. We encourage you all to head over to weADAPT, register, and explore. In the next week, we will be creating accounts on the new site for all of those who are already registered on wikiADAPT. Registered users will receive an email about this.

Thanks for all of your contributions to the site, and we hope you will enjoy the new weADAPT site

If you are a new user and wish to register to edit the wiki please do so at www.weADAPT.org

wikiADAPT is a flexible, accessible, inclusive medium for enhancing the knowledge base of the climate adaptation community. The wiki is a collaborative project, and the idea is to have a community of contributors (see Why Wiki?), not just users - so don't be afraid to add new pages or edit existing ones if you feel you can! In order to monitor the quality of contributions you will need to register to edit the wiki. Guidance on using and editing the wiki is provided in the pages in the toolbox on the left. Have a look at our Editorial Policy for information on quality control.

Further information on wikiADAPT, and the weADAPT platform, can be found in an initial statement on the Principles underlying the platform, the vision page and summary description of the platform page.

To make it easier to find what you're looking for we've devised a series of entry points to the information on wikiADAPT, based around information users have indicated they'd find useful: have a look at the 'are you looking for. . .' box! If you have anything to add on these topics please have a look and do so in the spaces provided.

Email us with your questions or Skype us every Wednesday from 9-12 and 14-17hrs GMT+1; just search wikiADAPT, drop in and ask whatever you want!

We now have 755 registered users and 576 articles. Here is a list of all articles and here is a list of our users, many of whom have filled out information on their interests in their user pages

  • Top tip: The open source software OpenOffice, an alternative to Microsoft Word, is freely available to download and has a function to export its text documents directly into wiki code. You can then just copy and paste into wikiADAPT and you'll have made your page!
