FTP Space instructions

The wiki allows you to upload small files, for example images, straight into the pages, but there are practical limits to the size of these before they slow things down for users.

For large files that you wish to be available on the wiki, a wikiADAPT filestore (FTP space) is available, and links can be made within the pages to download those files. Instructions on how to use the FTP space are provided below:

1) First you will need to use an FTP client - download free software from one of the following links if you don't already have one.

FileZilla
GoFTP
FTP Explorer
Transmit (Macintosh)
CyberDuck (Macintosh)
FileZilla (Linux)

2) Once you have downloaded the FTP Client, type ftp.wikiadapt.org as the address and enter the username of u50279458-wikiadapt along with the password (email us at info@wikiadapt.org to get access to this)

Notes: FTP does not recognize files that have spaces in the name, so it may be necessary to rename your files before uploading them, for example changing a file name from June Training.doc to June_Training.doc.
Also, bear in mind that this filespace can only be used for publicly-accessible materials - it is not suitable for secure documents! It is essential also that all application files, in particular, are 'zipped' before uploading.

3) Drag and copy the files that you want to upload into the wikiADAPT folder.

4) Once the files have been copied to this directory you can establish a link to them from within the wiki in the following manner. Note that if the documents are not in a folder then ignore the 'name of folder' part below:

[http://www.wikiadapt.org/filestore/Name_of_folder, e.g. wikiADAPT/Name_of_Document.pdf]

or make the link a piece of text like this:

[http://www.wikiadapt.org/filestore/Name_of_folder, e.g. wikiADAPT/Name_of_Document.pdf This text is what appears in the link]

Note: if you have any difficulties using this option, please feel free to contact us at info@wikiadapt.org.
